I love History, actually one of the biggest cross roads in my life was when I was at SDSU studying for my Masters in History. Right in the middle of my studies I was offered contracts to be a professional athlete.....and the rest is History. So todays History lesson is

he History of the Middle Finger

Before the Battle of Agincourt in 1415, the French, anticipating victory over the English, proposed to cut off the middle finger of all captured English soldiers. Without the middle finger it would be impossible to draw the renowned English longbow and therefore they would be incapable of fighting in the future. This famous English longbow was made of the native English Yew tree, and the act of drawing the longbow was known as 'plucking the yew' (or 'pluck yew').

Much to the bewilderment of the French, the English won a major upset and began mocking the French by waving their middle fingers at the defeated French, saying, See, we can still pluck yew!  Since 'pluck yew' is rather difficult to say, the difficult consonant cluster at the beginning has gradually changed to a labiodentals fricative F', and thus the words often used in conjunction with the one-finger-salute!  It is also because of the pheasant feathers on the arrows used with the longbow that the symbolic gesture is known as 'giving the bird

A special thanks to my good friend Terry Kemper for sending this over.

Minardi Training's father & son training Print E-mail

Well the apple doesn't fall from from the tree , His father Mario Cibelli was Minardi Training's most improved athlete this year. His son another fixture in the Minardi Training beach workout ,  Spencer was using the Minardi Beach workout to enhance his athletic skills , his hard work  paid off. Spencer is top row 3rd from the left. As noted from his father "My oldest son, Spencer, returned last night from the Korea soccer tournament.  Spencer’s travel team of three years, Downtown United Soccer Club (DUSC) represented the US.  DUSC reached the finals of the tournament and lost to a much bigger (and most likely older) Thailand.  DUSC beat South Africa, Japan and South Korea to reach the finals.  It turned out that Japan and South Africa sent teams from their national academies and South Korea was represented by their best club team in the country.  Making to the finals was quite a feat to say the least."
